Tradition

Watching the TV now , and they just got the winner for the idol thingi . And that guy ... almost cried . Anyway , it was really dumb . They acting parts were all ... very fake , and its no wonder the variety shows on TV nowadays are so ... lame and cold . The hosts of the programme cracked many really lame jokes ... and i just cannot stand it . Anyway , i think its kinda unfair in some ways , because the role the winner guy played before , has this kinda sympathetic look , and the other , had this arrogant look . So , in the end , it just feels as if that the guy deserves to win . Ive no idea what im saying , but surely its ... another dumb show . I dun believe after winning this will win the hearts of the public and stuff . U cannot force somebody to idolise someone . Anyway , idolisation is ... a sin .

Woke up today , and didnt know what to do . It didnt rain , so i think those people who went for the cycling trip should be having fun .

I didnt know that YouTube would be that famous . Before that , i didnt even know what it was . But now , im using it so often , i think i can forget about Yahoo . So , let me tell u a few amazing things i saw on YouTube .

Jake Shimabukuro , a professional Ukulele player , from Japan , but based in Hawaii , i suppose . He is really ... amazing ! He has his own website , u can go check him out later , but before that , catch his playing in one of the links i posted in my tagboard . Well , he played 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' by the Beatles , and its really amazing how beautifully he potrayed it . The Ukulele , is a small Hawaiian Guitar , and so , Jovan , dun ask why is the Guitar so small . Other than that , it can produce really beautiful music . Jake proved us so ... by his rocking style of the Ukulele , with a few other metal Hawaiians . He has beautiful and unique ways of styles and skills , and thus ... making his Ukulele almost perfectly independant . Afterall , theres too many Pianist around , and too many Violinist . Who've heard of a Ukulele player ?

Another amazing crap i saw was this China lady , called LiJie , if im not wrong . She played Paganini's Caprice , on the Guitar . And sure , she is ... crazy ! The clip really showed perfection at its peak ! She had no mistakes , and its really ... so perfect that nobody would believe that its played by a normal human . And sure enough , i know , there are many talents out there , who've shocked the world with their music . But , i havent seen much . So , LiJie , just shown me what a Guitar can really do . Ive heard many lousy Guitars ... downstairs , and back at ACS . And sure enough , nothing can compete with something like that . Playing it the classical way , is still the best and most unbeatable . She displayed many techniques ... and if i know how to play the Guitar , i'll surely compose for it . Not forgetting the Ukulele ... i think its the next instrument i wanna learn !

Gackto , this Japanese star , is a singer and an instrumentalist . What instrument ... ? Ive just no idea . There were so many clips of him playing various instruments , even those in Madagascar . And so , i watched only this clip ... of him playing the Shamisen , a traditional Japanese three string instrument . Its really great ! The ambience he created at his concert , was really great . The drumming was intense , and his Shamisen brought everything up . Now , u might wonder what a Shamisen can do ... Well , it really can create intense music . If u watched ... the Memoirs of a Geisha , u might notice the good music . And so , dun spend ur time imaginating ... go click on the links .

I ate only bread today , and now ... im hungry . Uncle made some chicken and fish ... but , i didnt like it . Im already walking ... and still limping bit by bit , i think i can go to school tomorrow . Great ? Maybe not ... I cannot imagine that ive already spent a week at home resting ... and i just took a look at my MC , given by the physician that day , and it doesnt really state anything . Well , it says that i cannot exercise for a week , thats all . Not really sure how NAFA is gonna take it . Anyway , NAFA is working so slowly , like a dead snail , YanYu still havent gotten her salary . This is ... getting so fucked up ! Am i studying in a professional music academy ? If yes , i wonder why im seeing things like that ...

Just watched another clip , on the Kayagum . Whats that ? Its the Korean zither , like a Chinese Zheng . Well , its pretty cool ... And now , im loading a clip on the Vietnamese instrument , called the DanBau . Its similar to the Chinese DuXianQin , which has only one string . And how to play ? Its played by plucking , with harmonics only . So , there's a bar which can be pulled , thus stretching the string , which will raise the pitch . Its amazing ... and its the prize winner of the concerto competition . The piece was written by LeThoung , a Vietnamese composer . I think nowadays , tradition elements with modernised elements really can fuse really well , in fact ... its at its best when such elements come together . Just look at TingTing's concerto piece , its really great isnt it ? Well , it'll be amazing to watch something refreshing and new , not some replayed for so many times . Who would wanna watch a movie on relay ? Or would u rather watch a fresh new movie ?

But one thing i can agree with ChenWei is that , without the influence of Western music , there wouldnt be music like now .

Hanson once told me that only a truly great musician would appreciate the music of the GuQin . Thats totally rubbish ... but somehow i would agree that , appreciating the music of the GuQin needs alot of knowledge and alot of understanding . And sure enough , that makes a good musician . But not directly meaning that only a great musician would appreciate the music of the GuQin , right ? GuQin is a really cool instrument with seven strings , and its one of the oldest instrument of the Chinese instrument family . And surely , it has many influences on the other instruments after its dwindling disappearance . Nowadays , its hard to even see one , other than those in the museum .

Remember the equal temperament ? Well , its just the way it is .

Tradition , rules .
