So its over . Now , i'll look forward again to the next year . Sometimes , u dream so much for a day to come ... and when it does , it'll pass within a blink of an eye . Well , u can do nothing about time , can u ? So , dun bother buying it back , its worthless ... it'll just fly away again , its born to be free . So is he .

Just came home from a bus ride from SengKang . Was wondering if YouGuo will go for CSCO tomorrow , because i'll need to borrow some scores from him . DrKan wants me to do an analysis on a Chinese instrumental piece , and she'll want me to comment on the different motives . Well , Chinese music doesnt have much motives ... but just sections and melodies . Like u have said the other time , Chinese music doesnt have much compositional value . Well ... i'll try my best !

Woke up around 2 pm . Well , i thought today Mom will wake me up and uncle will come bring me out , depriving me of my sleep . But , today aint a weekday ! Anyway , so ... Mom bought back food . I was wondering why so many came to my blog this morning . It was a record of at 74 readers . So , isit the unpleasant smell from the rubbish in my blog that brought them here ?

Christoven was online , and he sent me quite a few links . He upgraded his MSN , so thankful . So , i sent him a clip on Vitas . Its been so long since i had this frenzy for Vitas . Now , im back to my old dear CelineDion . All the links he sent was about to do or with CelineDion . Some of which were stupid and funny ... and mostly were her live performances . So , there i was ... rotting and feasting my eyes on the computer screen .

I was watching CelineDion perform for hours . Christoven was shocked that i was still listening when i sent him links too . Honestly , i was singing along , and i was tearing when i saw her awesome performances . Her voice , so angelic , so powerful , gave her the rights to be called the queen of all divas .

I missed my family and my home , but i dun regret having lost my adolescence . I had one dream ... i wanted to be a singer .

CelineDion said this herself , during an interview . She grew up in a poverty stricken , but by her own accord , a happy home in a small town called Charlemagne . She gained an appreciation for music by singing with her siblings in the small Piano bar belonging to her parents . She collaborated with her mother and her brother for a composition of her first song . Her brother , Michel , sent the song to music manager , ReneAngelil , whose name he discovered on a back of an album by GinetteReno . Angelil immediately knew that CelineDion would become an international success , and decided to mortgage his home in order to find her first record !

So , the album became number one in the local market , and made CelineDion an instant star in Quebec . Her popularity spread to other parts of the world when she competed in the Yamaha World Popular Song Festival in Tokya , Japan . She won both the gold medal and as the top performer . In 1987 , she was approached with 2 songwriters to represent Switzerland in some other competitions . By winning the contest in Dublin , Ireland , she recieved a large boost to her career in Europe , Asia and Australia . She wasnt even 20 yet !

By the late 1980's , CelineDion had already estrablished herself as a local popular artist with manyalbums , and had won many awards , appeared on local and French TV shows , and became the first Canadian artist to recieve a gold record in France for a hit single .

After seeing MichealJackson perform on TV , she told Angelil that she wanted to be a star like him . Even though he had no doubt in her talents , he realised that in order for her to marketed worldwide , her image needed to be changed . She was sent off to a school to polish her English and interviewing skills . CelineDion , eager to begin her career in NorthAmerica , learned English in only 3 months .

Her music has been influenced by various genres , ranging from pop and rock , to gospel and classical , and she is noted for her technically skilled and powerful vocals . Currently , she performs nightly in her show , at CaesarsPalace , LasVegas , under a contract that extends through 2007 .

Her real international breakthrough came when she teamed up with PeaboBryston to record a piece written for Disney's animated film ... 'Beauty and the Beast' . The song captured a musical style that CelineDion would utilize in the future ... sweeping , classically influenced ballads with soft instrumentation . Both a critical and commercial smash , the song not only topped the Billboard chart , but also won the AcademyAwards and GrammyAwards .

In 1993 , CelineDion indicated to the public that she was romantically involved with her manager , by declaring him the colour of her love , in her dedicated section of her third English album . Eventually , they became engaged and had an extravagant wedding ceremony in 1994 . As it was dedicated to her manager , the album's motif centered on love and romance , most exponent in 'The Power of Love' , a remake of JenniferRush's 1985 hit . She also kept to her French roots , releasing French recordings between each English ones . The mid 1990's was a transitional period for CelineDion's musical style , as she slowly moved away from strong rock influences and transitioned into a more pop and soul style . Her songs began with more delicate melodies using soft instrumentations , and built up to strong climaxes , over which her vocals could be displayed . Now , isnt that what we're always hearing for ? This new sound raised critic's eyebrows , who accused her of preferring vocal acrobatics over dynamics , and embarking on a trend of uninspiring , crowd-pleasing ballads . Resultantly , she earned frequent comparisons to artists such as WhitneyHouston and MariahCarey . There were signs that her songs , lyrics and videos became cliched , critically . However , while critical praise declined , this was not the case of popularity , as her releases performed increasingly well on the international charts . She became one of the best-selling artists in the world , among female performers such as WhitneyHouston and ShaniaTwain .

I saw a clip on her singing with some other female singers . I wonder how they felt when they were singing with CelineDion , because obviously , she had the best vocals among the singers . And JoshGroban too , who looked pretty like a little boy , standing next to a diva . There was one with Beyonce showing off her vocals , singing a together with the Destiny'sChild , duet with CelineDion . But too bad , when CelineDion sang , she did it so effortlessly , and showed Beyonce that she has too much to learn . CelineDion is a diva , the best . Quote me .

Her later albums combined many elements ... such as ornate orchestral frills , African chantings , and instruments like Spanish Guitar , Trombone , the Cavaquinho and Saxophone . Her reviews were generally favourable . After releasing and promoting 13 albums , she felt that she needed to settle down , and announced her final album . She needed to take a step back and enjoy the finer things in life . Angelil's diagnosis with throat cancer also prompted her to retire . After undergoing fertility treatments , she gave birth to a song , Rene-CharlesAngelil , in 2001 .

In late 2002 , the NationalEnquirer published a false story about the singer . Brandishing a picture of her and her husband , the magazine misquoted her , printing the headlines that she was pregnant with twins ! She then sued the magazine for over 20 million dollars . The editor printed an apology and a full retraction to CelineDion in the next issue , and donated money to the AmericanCancerSociety , in honour of her and her husband , who battled cancer .

I watched a clip on her being too emotional . She wasnt thinking with her brains . The things she said were all true , and very sincere ... but i guess , its too much . She was crying for a moment , and next ... she was singing !

CelineDion attempted to distance herself from the diva image , and she recruited the help of 4 French men , who she worked with before , and she released an album , themed on fun and relaxation . The cover showed CelineDion in a simple and relaxed manner , a contrast to the choreographed poses usually found in her album covers . Anyway , ive the CD ! The album achieved critical success , and she was getting back to pop basics and performing at a level unheard in a while . An English version of the album was highly anticipated , but it has yet to surface ...

Though her albums were relatively successful , signs of slowing down had began to appear in a poorer critcal reception . The mass appeal of CelineDion's later works had declined due to the nature of the themes , and her songs , now fit for the adult contemporary charts , recieved less airplay , as radio became less embracing of balladeers like CelineDion , and now focused on up-tempo and R&B songs .

In early 2002 , she announced a 3 year contract to appear five nights a week , in an entertainment extravaganza , at CaesarsPalace , LasVegas , for 600 shows . This move was seen as one of the smartest business decisions in years by any major recording artist , given the poor performance of her current releases . She concieved the idea for the show after seeing FrancoDragone , and he designed the 4000-seat arena for her . The show includes CelineDion performing her biggest hits against an array of dancers and special effects , with combination of dance , music and visual effects .

Ive seen her perform , in those clips ... And trust me , her voice is powerful , but her dance steps are ... horrendous . Her moves are ugly and ... weird . Many like to impersonate her singing , but failed , and her dances , which looked rather ... awkward . Sometimes , by singing her ballads , her hands movements are ... totally beautiful and graceful .

Here comes the confusing part . I dun understand how come such a diva would attract so many haters .

Her conservative nature , stage movements , and music is often the subject of media ridiculte , where she is repeatedly impersonated on shows like MadTV , and heavily ridiculted by SouthPark and many stand up comedians ... and TV and movie comedies from across the anglosphere . However , CelineDion seems unabashed by media ridiculte ... and said that she felt kinda flattered when they took the time to impersonate her . Its a good sign to her , as she is often percieved as a diva , where mimicking her songs is popular among female impersonators .

She started brands , and she herself is rather branded . In 2004 , Canada's national air carrier hired CelineDion as part of the new promotional campaign as the airline unveiled new-in-flight service products and new aircraft livery . The endorsement is not without controversy . Union workers criticised that the airline could have spent money elsewhere to improve service and on employees . At the time of the new branding , the airline had come out of bankruptcy protection just 18 months prior and thousands of workers were laid off in the restructuring . So , CelineDion was the cost ?

So now , maybe u'll get the rough idea why people hate her . For me , i love her . I will never get to hear somebody as good as her , ever again . Im sure .
